Mark J. Finkelstein, vice president-administrator for West Hartford's Hughes Health & Rehabilitation, is a repeat winner of an annual leadership award bestowed by his peers.
Finkelstein for a second straight year won the Facility Leadership Award from the American College of Health Care Administrators.
The award recognizes skilled nursing-facility administrators from across the country who exhibit leadership excellence in the areas of patient health and workplace safety in their respective facilities.
During Finkelstein's seven years with family-run Hughes Health, its homes have been recognized among the nation's best by the Consumers' Research Council of America for five consecutive years, and by U.S. News & World Report the past three.
Hughes also is a past recipient of the Hartford Business Journal's Health Care Heroes Award for its work to decrease preventable hospital readmissions for patients with heart failure.
Finkelstein is an ACHCA past president and member of its board.
The Portland selectman also is a director of the Connecticut Association of Health Care Facilities.

Bridgeport Investment property broker Northeast Private Client Group is the 2012 winner of CoStar Group Inc.'s “Power Broker Award” for its high dollar volume of regional deals last year.
This annual award recognizes the “best of the best” in commercial real estate brokerage by honoring the firms and brokers who closed the highest transaction volumes in commercial property sales in their respective markets.
Northeast Private Client Group says it qualified based on its volume of $65 million in total investment sales transactions closed in the southern Connecticut/Westchester County, N.Y., region.
Among deals it brokered was the $7.5 million sale of a grocery-anchored shopping center in New Haven; a $5 million sale of a 164-unit Bridgeport apartment complex; and a $4.75 million sale of a seven-building, multifamily portfolio in Greenwich.
