Just days after celebrating their second-straight national championship with fans in Hartford during a victory parade, the UConn men’s basketball team visited the state Capitol on Wednesday for Husky Day.

UConn Head Coach Dan Hurley and his team spent time picking up praise in both the House and Senate chambers during their visit Wednesday, with Hurley echoing the same message to both groups of legislators: the goal is three straight national titles.

“We’re going for the three-peat, too,” Hurley told the House. “It’s going to fall on a lot of people up here smiling — we’ve got practice tomorrow.”

More than 60,000 fans flocked to downtown Hartford on Saturday to celebrate the team’s dominant 37-3 season that was capped with a 75-60 victory over Purdue to capture the 2024 NCAA Division I national championship. It’s the second national championship in two years, and the men’s team’s sixth national championship overall.

UConn is now among the winningest college basketball programs of all-time, moving ahead of Duke, which has five national titles. Only UCLA (11) and Kentucky (eight) have more national championships. North Carolina also has six national titles.
