A Texas company has acquired West Hartford-based MERIT Insurance Services, a 70-year-old general agency.
Dallas-based Integrity Marketing Group, the nation’s largest independent distributor of life and health insurance products, announced the acquisition on Tuesday. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As part of the agreement, MERIT President Jace Rosenbluth will become a managing partner at Integrity.
“As a third-generation family business, I want a partner who understands the importance of preserving MERIT’s legacy yet provides the tools to help us stay relevant as we look to the future,” Rosenbluth said. “The Integrity partnership model allows us to maintain our position at the helm of our company while offering our agents more resources and opportunities.”
MERIT will gain access to Integrity’s customer relationship management, quoting and enrollment tools, product development, data solutions and call center capabilities. MERIT’s employees will be eligible to participate in the Integrity Employee Ownership Plan.
Rosenbluth’s father, Alvin, started MERIT in 1957 to group individual business owners together for insurance plans. The company expanded nationally into the senior market and is now a recognized leader in providing Medicare products, according to a company statement. MERIT also offers life, long-term care and disability insurance as well as fixed annuities.
