Hartford design firm JCJ Architecture says it is one of four companies selected to design and develop the expansion of an Oklahoma casino.

JCJ, which launched a Las Vegas office last month, is working with design-builder Tutor Perini Building Co., design partner Friedmutter Group and developer TynanGroup LLC to expand the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, Okla.

Design work has already begun and a groundbreaking will commence in late spring of 2019. The expansion will be completed within two years, JCJ officials said.

Under the expansion, the casino will add on a new 1,000-room hotel, parking garage, retail, conference center, restaurants, resort-style pools and other entertainment venues. The casino’s gaming capacity will also be expanded.

The Oklahoma casino is owned and operated by the Choctaw Nation, which has worked with JCJ for more than a decade, the firm said.
