JetBlue expands presence at Bradley with more Florida flights

Not to be outdone by news of Avelo Airlines’ expansion to Bradley International Airport this week, longtime Connecticut Airport Authority (CAA) partner JetBlue is ramping up its flight schedule to Florida, adding 35 weekly flights to five destinations in the state, airport officials said.

JetBlue is adding one daily flight to five existing Florida destinations: Orlando, West Palm Beach, Tampa, Fort Myers and Fort Lauderdale. That results in 35 new weekly flights to Florida and an expected 30% increase in overall seats for flights this winter compared to last year. The new daily flights begin in November.

In addition to the five Florida locations, JetBlue offers nonstop flights to Los Angeles and San Juan, the company said. The airline began operating at Bradley in 2010.

The announcement came the same day Avelo Airlines announced it was expanding its regional base to Bradley and adding seven new nonstop routes from the airport. Avelo is the 12th airline company operating at Bradley, joining Breeze Airways, Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines as one of four ultra-low-cost carriers at the airport.
