The hotdogs are here — but you’ll have to wait a few weeks for juice and acai bowls, as the Broadway district debuts new retail tenants for fall.
Bulldog Hotdogs is open at “Broadway Island,” in a kiosk bordered by Broadway and Elm Street. The location was once home to a crepe restaurant but since September has been serving up dogs, fries and slaw from the first outlet of Bulldog’s.
New Haven-made Hummel hotdogs take center stage at the eatery, along with vegetarian Beyond Meat and chicken links. Meals start at $2.95 for a “basic naked dog” and edge upward as you add toppings and sauces. Fries, slaw and other sides are offered.
Pedals Smoothie & Juice Bar, the third store in a Durham-based chain that also has a location on Upper State Street, has leased a storefront at 284 York Street. The juice bar plans to open at the end of the month, according to workers finishing up the paint job this week.
“We are a gluten free, plant-based, and zero-waste operation!,” the chain says on its website.
In addition to cold-pressed juice, Pedals offers cycling-themed bowls for $12 with superfood fruits like acai and pitaya. The “Cyclocross” features coconut and banana blended with spirulina and topped with pineapple, strawberries and granola.
Across the street at the corner of Broadway and York, eyewear retailer Warby Parker is readying for an opening later this year, according to landlord Yale University Properties.
