Bloomfield aerospace and medical device component maker Kaman Corp. received an order worth $43 million to make missile fuzes for the U.S. Air Force.

Kaman already sells joint programmable fuzes (JPF) to the U.S. Air Force, and the new order will add millions to Kaman's backlog of fuzes the Air Force has purchased, the company said.

"The U.S. Government executed Option 16 of our JPF contract which will add $43 million to the backlog with deliveries expected to begin in 2022,” Darlene Smith, president of Kaman Air Vehicles and Precision Products, said.

Kaman has sold the missile fuzes to the U.S. Air Force since 2002, the company said. The Bloomfield manufacturer also sells the devices to buyers in 40 other countries.
