KBE awards $17K in scholarships

KBE Building Corp., a commercial construction company with offices in Farmington and Norwalk, has awarded $17,000 in scholarships to 34 seniors (shown above) graduating from the Connecticut Technical High School System.

Windsor nonprofit CRIS Radio is expanding into Norwalk with a fifth regional studio.

Improved broadcast technology is enabling CRIS Radio to expand its service in lower Fairfield County. The nonprofit will use recordings of articles published in local newspapers and the New York Times Metro edition for people who are blind or unable to read due to a print disability or medical condition.

CRIS' 300 volunteers operate its broadcast center in Windsor and regional studios in Danbury, Norwich, Trumbull and West Haven.

CREC Public Safety Academy received a $150,000 planning grant from the Barr Foundation's education program to develop a program to help disengaged students graduate high school and guide them toward a postsecondary education or employment.
