Key biz tax deadlines loom Sept. 30

Wednesday is the deadline for filing certain business taxes, and Connecticut's Department of Revenue Services is reminding companies and bulk filers to submit their forms.

DRS, which is collecting taxes through a recently introduced electronic filing system myconneCT, released a statement reminding filers of the Sept. 30 filing date.

The web portal launched earlier this month is DRS' latest in a series of planned technology upgrades aimed at rivaling private-sector services that allow customers to bank and shop online.

"myconneCT is a major component of the initial phase of the agency’s multi-year modernization initiative that will improve the customer’s experience and deliver additional, user-friendly features to taxpayers," a DRS statement said.

Taxpayers can create a myconneCT username immediately to file their returns. For more myconneCT information, taxpayers can visit the DRS myconneCT page, DRS said.

State taxes that must be filed electronically and payed via myconneCT by Wednesday include taxes on:

  • Sales and Use/Business Use
  • Withholding
  • Room Occupancy (B&B Occupancy)
  • Prepaid Wireless E 9-1-1 Fee
  • Admissions and Dues
  • Tourism Surcharge
  • Rental Surcharge
  • Dry Cleaning Surcharge
