Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder partner named president of CT Trial Lawyers Association

Alinor Sterling

A partner with Bridgeport-based law firm Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder, Alinor Sterling, has been named president of the CT Trial Lawyers Association (CTLA).

The nonprofit professional association of trial lawyers, based in Hartford, advocates for civil justice and has more than 1,300 active members.

“Connecticut has a vibrant, healthy civil justice system and we should be proud of the protections that it provides for our citizens,” Sterling said. “Our job at CTLA is to steward that treasure and continue to strengthen it where we can.”

Sterling represented nine families of victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in a lawsuit against Remington Arms Co., which manufactured the gun used in the 2012 attack.

She and law partner Josh Koskoff won a $73 million settlement for the families.

Sterling also represents Sandy Hook families in a suit against alt-right radio show host Alex Jones for claiming the shooting was a staged hoax, which resulted in a $1.5 billion judgment for the plaintiffs.

Sterling previously served as vice president of the CT Trial Lawyers Association.

Also on Monday, Koskoff, Koskoff & Bieder announced that partner Kathleen Nastri, who from 2003 to 2004 was the CT Trial Lawyers Association’s first woman president, received the organization’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

“CTLA has been such an important institution throughout my career – from my first days as a practicing attorney, to my time serving as its president, and through today,” Nastri said. “It is an honor to receive this recognition from my friends and colleagues for a career that CTLA made possible through its constant support.”
