Lutz Labisch is taking over as president and CEO of TRUMPF Inc., company officials announced.
The German machine-tool and industrial laser manufacturer, which has its North American headquarters in Farmington, announced Labisch will resume his new role March 1. He succeeds outgoing president and CEO Peter Hoecklin.
In his new role, Labisch will be responsible for production, sales and service of the company’s machine tool and laser technology product portfolio in North America. He will also lead TRUMPF’s strategy and business operations at its U.S. subsidiaries in Connecticut, California, Illinois and Michigan, company officials said.
In addition to his work in the U.S., Labisch is also tasked with overseeing TRUMPF operations in Mexico, Canada and Brazil.
Labisch has a master’s degree in industrial engineering and business administration from the University of Karlsruhe in Germany and was a Fullbright Scholar at the University of Michigan. TRUMPF officials said he has nearly 20 years of experience in the machine-tool industry. According to his company bio, Labisch has been working as TRUMPF’s vice president of finance and administration since 2019. He joined the company in 2015.
According to information from TRUMPF, the company generated about $700 million in revenue in fiscal year 2020-21 and touts itself as the largest manufacturer of fabricating equipment and industrial lasers in North America.
TRUMPF’s U.S. headquarters has been in Farmington since 1969, company officials said.
