Can you tell us about some of your recent accomplishments?
Sonia Alvelo was the first Latina member of the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau in Connecticut. Latin Financial won a 2022 award from the Connecticut Entrepreneur Awards. Alvelo was also named the Entrepreneur of the Year by the Connecticut Latinas and Power Symposium. The firm also recently created its first bilingual podcast for alternative lending.
Where do you see your business in the next 5 years?
Growing and opening branches of Latin Financial in other states. That’s our dream as a company. Bringing the education to businesses and guiding them to the grow with the power of financial freedom.
What are your family values and how do they contribute to your business success?
Treating others with kindness and respect. Integrity or doing what you say you’ll do is another important skill. Responsibility, mutual respect, honesty and fairness.
How is your business involved in the community?
Our family business is proud to have a co-agreement with the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, donating 1% of our monthly revenue for five years and counting.
What are your guiding business principles?
At Latin Financial our principles are courage, honesty, respect, transparency and excellence, among others.
