Nancy Cowser, executive director of the Southeastern Connecticut Enterprise Region, or seCTer, is resigning as of June 30.
The private nonprofit focuses on economic development, primarily in the southeastern portion of the state.
Cowser, who has been in the role since 2016, will be taking a job as chief advancement and alumni relations officer with Mitchell College in New London.
Cowser said she “fully enjoyed” her time at seCTer, but has decided to move into education.
Board members for seCTer credited Cowser with improving the organization’s balance sheet and overall financial state.

QU engineering professor garners honor
Grant Crawford, a professor of mechanical engineering at Quinnipiac University, has been appointed a fellow member of the American Society for Engineering Education.
The “fellow” grade is conferred by the board of directors upon society members deemed to have outstanding qualifications, experience and contributions.
Justin Kile, dean of the School of Engineering, said Crawford’s selection is an acknowledgement of his “career-long commitment to the education of young engineers."
“Every day our students benefit from his dynamic and engaging teaching style,” Kile said.
Crawford joined Quinnipiac’s School of Engineering in 2014.

Real estate firm promotes team member
Northeast Private Client Group, which has an office in Shelton, has promoted Alex Burr to investment associate.
The company is a real estate investment sales firm with offices in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts.
Burr, who is based in its Connecticut office, joined the firm in 2019. Since then, he has sold more than $5 million in investment property totaling 30 transactions, according to the company.
In his new role, Burr will continue to work in new business development and account management.
