Legrand cuts energy use across 22 sites

West Hartford manufacturer Legrand said it cut its energy use by 15.9 percent across nearly two dozen locations in October during its second-ever “energy marathon.”

Legrand, which makes cables, intercom systems, lighting controls and an array of other digital products for homes and buildings, said the locations saved a combined 722,941 kilowatt hours of energy during the 26.2-day event that started days before the Hartford Marathon.

That equates to 508 metric tons of carbon dioxide, and reduced Legrand’s energy bill by $79,725.

A similar event in 2014 involving 18 Legrand sites saved 588,540 kilowatt hours and $46,732.
