Legrand NA raises $98.7K for Red Cross

West Hartford-based Legrand North America raised $98,750 for the American Red Cross as part of its disaster-relief fundraiser. All money raised will aid the people and regions affected by recent natural disasters throughout the country.

The Greater Hartford Arts Council will award funding to 15 Hartford events taking place between Oct. 2017 and March 2018 through its Hartford Events Grants program. These grants support free, family friendly concerts, festivals and exhibits that draw community engagement. Hartford Events Grants are supported by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving.

Members of the Catalyst Endowment Fund have awarded $50,000 to the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology to expand programs that address the underrepresentation of young women in entry-level manufacturing jobs. CCAT will use the funds to grow its Manufacturing Careers Program and coordinate a series of “Women in Manufacturing” events.

The Hartford Foundation has awarded a three-year, $240,000 general operating support grant to Hartford Habitat for Humanity. The grant will help Habitat respond to the demands for its core programming and will also allow Habitat to develop its new Financial Freedom Center, based in Hartford's north end.

The Aetna Foundation announced more than $2 million in grants to 25 nonprofit organizations across the U.S., as part of its Cultivating Healthy Communities initiative. Grants from the Cultivating Healthy Communities initiative support organizations working to address social determinants of health, like access to healthy food and safe places to play.

Hartford's Interval House received a $11,000 grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. The funding will directly support victims staying at the agency's 20-bed confidentially located safe house.

One of the nation's largest women-led life insurers, Royal Neighbors of America, donated $10,000 to the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation to support women clients who will benefit from Fidelco's renowned German Shepherd guide dogs. Fidelco breeds, raises, trains and places guide dogs for a wide variety of blind and visually impaired people.
