Liberty Bank taps trio

Stephen Roche

Liberty Bank in Middletown has announced three new hires: Dan Flynn, senior vice president & chief credit risk officer; Stephen Roche, senior vice president and regional manager, commercial banking; and Rick Rabideau, first vice president and relationship manager in commercial banking.

Flynn will succeed Denise Brewer, Liberty’s current chief credit risk officer, who will retire in March. Flynn spent the last five years at United Bank (now People’s United Bank), where he held the title of executive vice president and chief operating officer of wholesale banking.

Roche previously was with United Bank (now People’s United Bank), where he managed a team of commercial bankers and portfolio managers. Prior to United, Roche had a nearly 15-year career at TD Bank, where he was senior vice president and regional manager responsible for a team of middle-market bankers in Connecticut..

Andrea Kovacs

Albertus Magnus College has named Andrea Kovacs interim vice president for enrollment management and marketing. Previously she was vice president, communications and marketing for the school. In her new role, Kovacs will provide senior leadership for AMC’s undergraduate and professional graduate studies admissions, enrollment operations, financial aid, intercollegiate athletics, communications and marketing, community engagement and legislative affairs. Before joining Albertus in 2010, Kovacs directed the annual fund at Fairfield University and was senior vice president for marketing and community relations for United Way of Eastern Fairfield County. Kovacs earned a BS in marketing from the Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY) and a master’s in leadership from AMC.

Also at Albertus, Marisa Dragone has been named interim director for marketing and creative services. Dragone joined the college in 2018 as director of creative services. Before that, she spent 25 years in the publishing industry, most recently as production director and general manager at Connecticut Magazine. Dragone earned a BA in graphic design with a minor in communications from Regis College.

The public and government relations firm Sullivan & LeShane has named Michael Johnson vice president, government affairs and Ryan Bingham senior director of government affairs. Both are veterans of the firm and have represented S&L clients at the state Capitol and before state agencies and local government.

Johnson, who joined the firm in 2011, was graduated from Sacred Heart University with a BS in government/politics and business management. Bingham joined S&L in 2016 following three terms as mayor of Torrington and a leadership role in the environmental services industry. He earned a BA in political science from Marist College and a master’s in public administration from the University of Southern California.
