The owners of Windsor Locks-based Multi-mode Logistics recently paid $4.08 million for a former CARrite dealership location and neighboring lot right next to Bradley International Airport.
The former dealership property on nearly 6.6-acres at 499 North Road in Windsor Locks comes with a 4,960-square-foot office building completed in 2016, as well as two detached garages and a large shed. Multi-mode’s owners also bought an adjacent, vacant 6.59-acre property at 321 Ella T. Grasso Turnpike.
John Kumpa, who co-founded and co-owns Multi-mode with his wife, Leigh, is also principal of Nitro Realty LLC, which bought the two properties next to the airport in a sale logged by the town on Aug. 21.
The seller, Passport Acres LLC., of Boca Raton, Florida, is headed by John Barberino, former owner of the CARrite dealership in Windsor Locks.
John Kumpa said Wednesday he plans to use the former CARrite office and storage buildings while working with town officials on plans to build larger warehouse-style buildings on the site.
Daniel Merrigan, of Windsor Locks-based Merrigan & Lefebvre Realty Inc., represented both buyer and seller in the recent off-market sales of 499 North Road and 321 Ella T. Grasso Turnpike.
