Veho, a shipping and logistics newcomer that services e-commerce retailers, will begin deliveries in Connecticut Wednesday following the launch of new last-mile distribution centers in East Hartford and New York.
Veho will begin deliveries using contracted drivers working from a leased 6,372-square-foot space in a building at 112 Prestige Park Road, in East Hartford. This facility will serve the Hartford, New Haven and Springfield areas. This location is opening with eight full-time employees, a number which is expected to grow in the coming months.
A New York location will service the Greenwich and Bridgeport areas.
Contracted drivers, who use their own vehicles, are paid an average of $24 hourly, according to Veho. Veho’s routes are designed to range between two and six hours, something the company says ensures steady work and consistent pay.
Veho accepts shipments from e-commerce brands, and then handles deliveries to homes. It also handles returns. The company claims a 99% on-time delivery rate in a “customer-centric” operation that gives the vendors it services a competitive edge.
The move into Connecticut is part of a push into 11 markets in the Northeast, for a total of 42 markets. This is part of an expansion that has grown volume by 48% since 2021. Founded in 2016, Veho works with brands including Saks, Nordstrom, Rent the Runway, HelloFresh and more. It currently employs about 910 employees in its corporate offices and warehouses.
“In this macroeconomic environment, retailers are recognizing more than ever the importance of the post-purchase experience in driving brand loyalty, repeat purchases and, ultimately, profitability,” Veho Chief Revenue Officer Brian McDevitt said through a release issued by the company. “Veho’s laser focus on the customer experience and highly efficient operating model continues to position itself as an invaluable partner to brands and is at the heart of our growth and expansion.”
