It would appear that you can never have enough Starbucks.
Macy’s has filed an application for permits in West Hartford seeking to create a Starbucks Cafe inside one of its locations at Westfarms mall.
With a standalone Starbucks situated in the mall’s center court on the lower level — right outside the entrance to Macy’s Men’s & Furniture Gallery — the proposed in-store cafe would become the mall’s second Starbucks.
It also would be the third Starbucks in the area, with another located across New Britain Avenue in the Corbins Corner shopping center.
A spokesperson for Macy's provided a comment via email, stating only that it will open "a licensed Starbucks location" in the fall of this year.
According to documents filed with the town Building Department, the new cafe would be created just inside the entrance to the Macy’s women’s clothing location on the north side of the mall. The application also seeks to create an outdoor seating area to the left of the store’s north entrance by removing an existing bench and adding tables, chairs and umbrellas, along with a Starbucks sign on a wall.
Town officials said that because no zone change is required to create the cafe, the only applications Macy’s needed to file were for building, plumbing and signage permits.
A spokesperson for Westfarms mall referred all questions about the new cafe to Macy’s. Starbucks did not respond to a request for comment.
