Major CT firearms manufacturer names new CEO

COSTAR Sturm, Ruger & Co. has its corporate headquarters in Southport, at 1 Lacey Place.

Southport-based firearms manufacturer Sturm, Ruger & Co. Inc. announced Friday morning that it has appointed Todd W. Seyfert as its next president and CEO, effective March 1.

Seyfert was previously the CEO of Wisconsin-based FeraDyne Outdoors LLC, a manufacturer of archery and hunting products.

Ruger’s current president and CEO, Chris Killroy, plans to retire in May.

At FeraDyne, Seyfert was known for launching a significant market expansion that increased profitability, according to the announcement.

“Todd is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the outdoor adventure and shooting sports industries, and well recognized for his leadership, strategic vision and operational expertise,” said John A. Cosentino, Jr., chairman of Ruger’s board of directors. “He will be instrumental in further strengthening Ruger’s market position and delivering long-term value to shareholders, employees and customers alike.”

Killroy worked for Ruger for more than 20 years. He joined the company in 2003 and was named vice president of sales and marketing in 2006, becoming president and chief operating officer in 2014. He took on the additional role of CEO in 2017.

“Chris successfully guided the company through transformative milestones, including the pivotal acquisition of Marlin Firearms that expanded our capabilities and market presence, as well as expertly steering the organization through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Cosentino said. “During his tenure, we introduced numerous innovative and commercially successful new products, including the recently launched RXM pistol.”

Killoy will serve as a special adviser to Seyfert and the board, and will keep his seat on the board.

Ruger has about 1,800 employees.
