A major Manchester retail shopping center anchored by Trader Joe's and Marshalls has been sold for $67.5 million.
The 308,000-square-foot Plaza at Buckland Hills, on Pleasant Valley Road, was purchased in the fourth quarter of 2024 by Brixmor Property Group Inc., a New York City-based publicly traded real estate investment trust.
Brixmor disclosed the purchase this week in an update to investors on its fourth-quarter investment activity.
The deal also included a retail pad site at 1442 Pleasant Valley Road.
In the disclosure, Brixmor said the Plaza at Buckland Hills presents “growth opportunities through below-market in-place rents.”
Other tenants in the plaza include Michaels, PetSmart, Ulta, Five Below, Skechers, Orangetheory Fitness, Chick-fil-A and Crumbl Cookie, according to Brixmor, which said the property attracts 21,000 visits a day and over 7.8 million annual visits.
The company said the Shoppes at Buckland Hills is also within 1.5 miles of four other retail properties it operates in Manchester, including Crossroads I (49 Pavilions Drive), Crossroads III (430 Buckland Hills Drive), Hale Road (169 Hale Road) and Slater Street (110 Slater Street).
Brixmor said it has in its portfolio 360 retail centers that comprise approximately 63 million square feet of retail space.
It also has Connecticut holdings in Orange, North Haven, Hamden, Stratford, Glastonbury, Newington, Waterbury and Waterford, according to its website.
The deal has not yet been recorded in Manchester property records.
The property was owned by Plaza at Buckland Hills LLC, which is controlled by Christopher Conlon, who is CEO of Columbus, Ohio-based Washington Prime Group Inc., or wpg, a real estate investment trust.
