Plainville-based switches and circuit breakers manufacturer Carling Technologies Inc. recently sold its 129,506-square-foot manufacturing building on 25.76 acres for $7.45 million.
Carling sold the building at 60 Johnson Ave., to Fifth Continental Properties, a company registered in Wyoming, according to a deed recorded March 25.
Town assessing records list Fifth Continental Properties’ address as a post office box in Thomaston.
That same post office box is the mailing address listed in state business records for Element 119, a maker of ceramic composite nano-coating for automotive, aerospace and marine applications with a production facility in Thomaston and offices in Cheshire.
Attempts to reach representatives of Carling and Element 119 were unsuccessful.
Carling Technologies was purchased in 2021 by Chicago electronics manufacturer Littelfuse Inc. for $315 million in cash. https://www.hartfordbusiness.com/article/electronics-manufacturer-to-buy-plainville-based-carling-for-315m
At the time of the deal, Carling — which manufactures switches, controls, circuit breakers and power distribution units for the commercial vehicle, marine, telecommunications and data communications markets — said it had approximately 2,800 employees worldwide, with its headquarters in Plainville and sites in Florida, Texas, Mexico, England, Hong Kong and China.
The company said it had annualized sales of about $170 million.
The listing brokers of the property sale included Chris Duclos, Kathryn Frasier and Stephanie Romano Shaw of Sentry Commercial. Nicholas Morizio, president of Colliers International in Hartford and New Haven, represented the buyer.
