A new Marriott hotel is coming to Bridgeport’s Steelpointe Harbor development, city officials and developers announced, and construction is set to begin next year.
Hospitality company True North Hotel Group Inc. and Bridgeport Landing Development this week finalized a deal to bring a Residence Inn by Marriott to Steelpointe, the mixed-use waterfront development in Connecticut’s largest city.
The new hotel will feature about 135 rooms and be located between East Main Street and Pembroke, bordering Stratford Avenue, according to information from developers. Construction will begin next year.
Bobby Christoph Jr., a developer at Steelpointe, said construction is already underway for the mixed-use property’s more than 400 units of housing and retail space. The August, the name for the residential phase, is from the development team of Flaherty & Collins Properties and RCI Group. It is part of the larger 52-acre Steelpointe Harbor master plan.
The mixed-use project also includes 25,000 square feet of commercial space on the ground floor.
