The nearly century-old Masonic lodge property in downtown Manchester is for sale for $500,000.
The Manchester Lodge, located at 25 East Center St., went on the market in June for $500,000, according to a listing from Scott Custer from Shea & Company Real Estate. The building, which was built in 1926 and has been the town’s Masonic hub for decades, features 20,000 square feet of space on 0.34 acres of land, according to the listing. The owners of the property, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons-associated Manchester Lodge #73, want to sell the property “as-is,” per the listing.
The property is nestled between a stretch of Manchester’s public buildings and department headquarters and Cafe Aura, the Italian eatery owned by Geno Auriemma’s restaurant group.
According to the listing, the main floor of the building has an office area, large billiards room, kitchenette and a meeting room with built-in seating. The top floor has a smaller office and waiting area. A large meeting room upstairs also has a built-in organ and seating.
The basement is set up for banquet dining and has a large kitchen with commercial-style appliances. According to the listing, the boiler was replaced in the last few years and is in a dedicated utility room. There are storage closets throughout the building as well as a small attic.
The owners, Manchester Lodge #73, will negotiate with the buyer about the potential removal of built-in chairs with masonic decorations, but certain Masonic furnishings like historic woodwork and decorative cornerstones will be removed prior to the sale.
The building faces East Center Street, CT Route 44, has a rear parking area accessed from Main Street, CT Route 83, and is located along buslines.
