Matthew Curtin is a partner at Murtha Cullina. He practices labor and employment law and chairs Murtha’s data privacy and cybersecurity practice group. Curtin was made partner at only 36 years old.
He is the current chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s labor and employment law section.

What’s been your biggest professional accomplishment so far in your career?
Serving as chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s labor and employment section has been an honor and a privilege.
How are you involved in the community?
I volunteer my time serving on the St. James School Board in Manchester.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I am a trained musician and enjoy playing various instruments. These days I mostly play guitar for fun, but I am also a classically trained clarinetist and saxophonist. I also enjoy attending music concerts. For physical activity, I enjoy golf, skiing with my family and swimming.
How will the coronavirus pandemic change the way you work long term?
Going forward I expect I’ll be working remotely most of the time. Remote hearings, meetings, negotiations and mediations will become more the norm as opposed to an exception. Also, no more shaking hands.
Four reasons why you deserve to be a 40 Under Forty:
Serve as chair of the Connecticut Bar Association’s labor and employment law section.
Volunteer for the St. James School board in Manchester.
Named partner at Murtha Cullina at only 36 years old.
Recognized by the International Association of Privacy Professionals as a Certified Information Privacy Professional.
For the past 20 years, whenever U2 is touring, I’ve traveled to Dublin, Ireland, for their hometown concerts.
