Hartford Mayor-elect Arunan Arulampalam on Tuesday announced that he has named a member of Gov. Ned Lamont’s administration as corporation counsel for the city, along with three other key staff appointments.

Arulampalam appointed Jonathan Harding, associate general counsel for Lamont, as corporation counsel. Harding has more than a decade of legal experience as a former assistant attorney general for Connecticut.

Also, the mayor-elect appointed Yahaira Escribano as his chief of staff, Cristian Corza as deputy chief of staff and Sincere Lawson as his executive assistant.

Escribano is a member of the city’s Board of Education and is the finance and programs officer at the Hartford Land Bank, where Arulampalam is CEO. Escribano also served as an adviser to Arulampalam’s mayoral campaign.

Corza, who managed his election campaign, is co-chair of the city’s Commission on Refugee and Immigrant Affairs.

Lawson was previously Arulampalam’s campaign scheduler. She received a degree in psychology and criminology from Eastern Connecticut State University and is a Hartford native.

Arulampalam said he is excited to make his first appointments to his administration.

“We’re going to hit the ground running on day one, and I know our team is ready and prepared to take on the challenges our city faces, and bring positive change to Hartford,” Arulampalam said.

Arulampalam previously served as deputy commissioner for the state Department of Consumer Protection under Lamont, and as an attorney at Hartford-based Updike, Kelly & Spellacy.
