Torrington-based McCall Behavioral Health Network recently marked the opening of a primary care office and expansion of its child and adolescent outpatient services program in Waterbury.

The office is located at 969 West Main St. It offers programs focused on providing whole-person care and addressing physical, behavioral, and mental health concerns for people of all ages in Greater Waterbury.

The expansion of the child and adolescent outpatient services program was made possible by a $150,000 grant from The Cigna Group Foundation that is intended to address the ongoing youth mental health crisis.

According to The Cigna Group’s Evernorth Research Institute, the number of young people with mental health conditions has increased by 28% since 2018, with a 48% increase in young people experiencing multiple diagnoses.

McCall said the grant enables it to provide specialized care for children and adolescents — children ages 8 to 18 — who face challenges that include stress, anxiety, depression, vaping, and substance use. The program offers adolescents and their families the tools needed for recovery and well-being, it said.

“We’re thrilled to offer both services to the Waterbury community,” said Maria Coutant Skinner, president and CEO of McCall. “Our goal is to provide evidence-based, accessible care to all, and we’re incredibly grateful to The Cigna Group Foundation for their generosity and support in our efforts to address the youth mental health crisis.”

In addition to expanding its child and adolescent outpatient services, McCall’s Primary Care office provides a range of medical services for children, adults and seniors, using an integrated, holistic approach.

In addition to Waterbury, McCall has offices in Danbury, Torrington and Winsted.
