Part of Companions and Homemakers, a well-known in-home personal care services brand in Connecticut, has sold for the second time in two years.

HouseWorks Holdings, based in Woburn, Massachusetts, has acquired Companions and Homemakers LLC and Companions Forever LLC from Georgia-based AccordCare, according to an announcement.

“The opportunity to add both Connecticut brands’ deeply talented and experienced team members and market-leading reputation to our enterprise gives us confidence we will continue to change how healthcare is delivered within the home,” HouseWorks CEO Mike Trigilio said.

Companions and Homemakers, and Companions Forever, will both retain their branding. Combined, they are the largest provider of Medicare homecare services in Connecticut.

The acquisition marks HouseWorks’ geographic expansion into Connecticut. In addition to Massachusetts and Connecticut, it also operates in Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

The previous owner of Farmington-based Companions and Homemakers sold the business to two separate multi-state companies in 2022.

Companions and Homemakers’ Medicare business was sold to AccordCare and its private pay division was sold to TheKey, a national homecare company with existing operations in Connecticut.

The sale price was not disclosed. In April, Companions and Homemakers’ former headquarters at 613 New Britain Ave. in Farmington sold for $1.7 million.

Companions and Homemakers now has locations in Enfield, Farmington, Middlebury and Norwich. Companions Forever is located in Newington.
