John Carmon is the president of the Carmon Community Funeral Homes Inc., which has eight locations in Hartford and Tolland counties, employs 70 full- and part-time staff members and serves over 1,400 families a year.
Carmon is a graduate of Loomis School, now Loomis Chaffee in Windsor, and of the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service in New York City.
He also holds an honorary Doctor of Humanities degree from Mount Ida College in Newton, Mass.
Carmon has taken mission trips to Southeast Asia, Africa, and Asia, and was a Hartford Business Journal Lifetime Achievement Award winner in 2012.
Peter R. DeMallie is president and founding principal of Design Professionals Inc., a multi-disciplinary consulting firm in South Windsor serving Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The firm's practice includes civil and traffic engineering, urban planning, landscape architecture and land surveying. It has provided services on over 3,000 projects since its inception in 1986.
DeMallie, a Westport native, has served on numerous regional boards and committees. He is co-chairman of the East of the River Chambers of Commerce Association with 3,500 business members. He is also immediate past chairman of the Central Regional Tourism District (Hartford and New Haven areas), and immediate past board president of the SummerWind Performing Arts Center in Windsor. DeMallie was the 2007 South Windsor Business Person of the Year.
Andrea Obston is president of Andrea Obston Marketing Communications LLC in Bloomfield.
The firm mobilizes traditional, web-based and social media as tools in brand development, public and media relations and crisis communications. It helps build, enhance and defend brand reputations that lead to business success.
Its subsidiary, Andrea Obston Crisis Management, focuses on helping clients pre-crisis to create crisis communications plans. It also assists clients during crises to manage communications. Their experience has been singled out by the readers of the Connecticut Law Journal as one of the state's premier public relations firms for the past six years.
Obston is a contributing author to the 2012 book “Media Magnetism — How to Attract the Favorable Publicity You Want and Deserve.”
Julie Daly Meehan is the executive director of HYPE, an initiative of the MetroHartford Alliance that helps young professionals become better engaged in community life, expand professional and social opportunities, and become ambassadors for the Hartford region. HYPE currently serves nearly 4,000 members and offers 60 events each year. Meehan works closely with many partner organizations throughout the Greater Hartford area, and with a group of about 75 volunteers across six HYPE committees.
Meehan is also vice president of the board of directors for the KNOX Inc. and is a founding member of the Hartford Hospital Young Leaders Advisory Council. She was recognized in the HBJ's 2008 40 Under Forty class and as one of Hartford Magazine's 50 Most Influential in 2012. Julie earned a bachelor's degree in human development family studies from UConn in 2005.
