A cluster of Meriden-area professional service firms joined forces as of Jan. 1 to offer customers a slate of accounting, tax, insurance and advisory services under the new name of the Nesso Group.

Seven companies — FLP Accounting & Tax, FLP Financial, Bongiovanni Insurance & Financial, BSP Insurance, Lake Financial Services, Wonneberger Business Solutions, BWell Mind & Body and Disability Planning Partners — merged to form the Nesso Group, said Senior Vice President Ty Bongiovanni.

The new company will be based in three offices: at 409 Canal St. in the Milldale section of Southington, 130 Research Pkwy. in Meriden and 200 Day Hill Rd. in Windsor. The combined company has 72 employees, with plans under way to hire more across a range of specialties.

Bongiovanni said he and his partners formed the new company, “to try to provide an ecosystem of services, so that our clients truly feel like what they’re getting is connected.”

Clients can come to one place for help with accounting, wealth management, estate planning insurance and Medicare issues.

“We want people to come in and have a team of professionals that know how everything connects,” Bongiovanni said.

Bongiovanni, who helped run his family’s namesake financial-planning and insurance firm, started merger talks with the owner of a tax business a year ago seeking to expand his company’s offerings.

“We recognized that what we believe is most important  in our business matched – that our teams, their health and their happiness and our culture is what really drives the success of our businesses,” Bongiovanni said. “We made that the foundation of our merger and the future of the business.”

As the talks progressed, long-time collaborators in other professional service sectors signed on to the merger. Plans were finalized in August for the Nesso Group, with the merger taking effect on Jan. 1.

“Nesso” means connection or nexus in Italian, Bongiovanni said. In addition to the new company, the partners intend to open a charitable foundation to provide services to the less fortunate.

“Our differentiator will be that we have each other,” Bongiovanni said of the new company. “We are stronger together.”
