Middletown-based Liberty Bank expands digital banking division into 3 new states

HBJ PHOTO | STEVE LASCHEVER Liberty Bank Chief Digital Officer David Mitchell said the goal of launching a digital bank is to expand in other states without opening new branches.

Owners Bank, a digital bank recently launched by Middletown-based Liberty Bank, has expanded into three new states.

The digital bank’s products and lending services, which are geared toward small business owners, are now available in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

“This year is off to a great start for Owners Bank,” said David Mitchell, founder and CEO of Owners Bank. “We are looking forward to assisting even more small businesses across the country with their financial needs.”

Owners Bank provides small business owners with cash flow through loans and lines of credit. Also, it offers standard business interest checking, savings accounts, and business credit cards.

Owners Bank’s app lets business owners manage their finances, set savings goals, facilitate money transfers and accept digital payments.

Owners Bank now operates in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Owners Bank is a division of Liberty Bank, operating as a separate brand under Liberty’s charter.

Liberty Bank is a mutual bank with $7.5 billion in assets and 56 locations in Connecticut and Massachusetts.
