A mixed-use plan with townhouses and one commercial unit has gained land use approval in Bristol.
Applicant Aamir Mumtaz, of Bristol, is planning a 9,870-square-foot, two-story building with seven townhouse units and one 750-square-foot commercial space.
Six of the townhomes are two-bedroom units, with one three-bedroom unit on one end of the development and the one-story commercial unit on the other end, with parking. The commercial unit would be for personal services, which would not require a loading area, the applicant said.
The lot sits at the corner of Clark and Terryville avenues, Route 6, near Norwalk Avenue and Mt. Pleasant Street.
The property is owned by Summer Glen LLC, of Bristol, and principals Patricia T. Mullin, Kristen Dionne and Stephen Mullin.
The surveyor and civil engineer on the project is Robert Green Associates of Terryville.
Attorneys for the applicant told land use officials that the long-vacant property had been a difficult site, with proposed plans dating back to 1988, when a variance was approved for mixed-use development.
Wetlands approval was granted in July 2023. Planning and Zoning officials said the plan would fit in with the neighborhood, and that the design was adequate for the purpose.
