Mohegan, the Uncasville-based company operated by the Mohegan Tribe that owns Mohegan Sun, has appointed a new chief strategy officer.
Nelson Parker, who previously served as senior vice president of strategic development at Mohegan, has been promoted to chief strategy officer, the company announced.
In the newly created position, Parker will be responsible for identifying, assessing and executing growth opportunities and strategic new ventures for the company, according to the announcement.
"Nelson has vast experience and a proven track record in strategic development and growth within the gaming and hospitality sectors," said Ray Pineault, president and CEO of Mohegan. "His skills will be invaluable as we continue to expand our footprint globally and explore new opportunities."
Parker joined Mohegan in 2022. Before that, he was managing director of Driftwood Capital, a private equity fund focused on hospitality investments.
Parker has other experience in the gaming industry. He was previously the senior vice president of corporate development at Penn National Gaming and had senior roles at Hard Rock International, Foxwoods Resort Casino and Argosy Gaming.
Mohegan owns, develops and manages entertainment resorts across the United States, Canada and Northern Asia. It also owns and operates the Connecticut Sun, a WNBA basketball team.
