Mohegan NJ casino to open massive $35M Margaritaville

The Mohegan operated Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City will open a 39,400-square-foot, $35-million Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville complex on May 24 for Memorial Day weekend, a key component of the property's renovation.

When Mohegan Gaming Advisors of Uncasville took over operation and partial ownership of the Resorts Casino Hotel in August, the deal called on a partnership with Margaritaville to significantly expand its presence there and build a site to take advantage of the Atlantic City boardwalk.

Those plans come to fruition on May 24, when Margaritaville will open a restaurant, bar, casino, retail store, and coffee shop.

The main presence will be a 14,000-square-foot Margaritaville restaurant that seats 448. On the beach will be a 8,000-square-foot LandShark Bar & Grill for 370 guests. The rest of the Margaritaville square footage will be within the Resorts Casino Hotel, including Margaritavile's first-ever coffee shop, 12 themed table games, 160 slot machines, and a 5 O'Clock Somewhere Bar.

Mohegan has set up its players' reward program so gamblers at its Uncasville and Pennsylvania properties can use their points toward amenities in Atlantic City, and vice versa.
