Mohegan Sun, Foxwoods relax proposal deadline

MMCT Venture, the company formed by the Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes to potentially build a third Connecticut casino, said it will postpone its decision date on which town will host the casino.

Originally, the tribes set a Dec. 15 deadline, but said they won’t be able to meet it. No firm decision date has been announced.

The tribes said after meeting with town leaders, the board has decided that more time is required to make a decision. “We continue to do our due diligence, evaluating proposals and the economic impact of each site. We are mindful that towns have their own processes to work through, and we want to give them the ability to do that effectively,” the statement said.

Communities that have expressed an interest include East Hartford, East Windsor, Hartford and Windsor Locks. The latter has two proposals, located at or near Bradley International Airport. Windsor Locks has scheduled a town meeting for tomorrow on the issue.
