Monroe metal distributor acquired by publicly traded Chicago company

Monroe metal distributor Production Metals LLC has been acquired by Ryerson Holding Corp., the Chicago-based international metal processor and distributor announced.

Production Metals, located at 421 Old Zoar Road, Monroe, distributes bar, tube, sheet and plate products to aerospace, defense and semiconductor customers across New England, according to information from the company.

The formerly family-owned business also has precision sawing, lasering and water jet cutting capabilities and deals with products made of aluminum, stainless and specialty steels.

The acquisition, which was for an undisclosed sum, will bolster Ryerson Holding Corp.’s footprint in the Northeast, Ryerson President and CEO Eddie Lehner said. The company trades as RYI on the New York Stock Exchange and has about 4,400 employees across more than 110 locations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and China. The international company was founded as a steel shop in Chicago in 1842.
