Motorlease provides outsourced fleet management and leasing services to small and mid-sized fleets.
Over the past 12 months, Motorlease has expanded its workforce, grew its client base and was named a Best Places to Work in Connecticut for a third consecutive year by Hartford Business Journal. It also was recognized as one of the top donor teams for the Farmington Valley Relay for Life and donated time and services to the Farmington Community Center and Foodshare.
How do you remain competitive?
Over the past 70 years, many things have changed within the fleet leasing industry. Mega corporations and the proliferation of big data and analytics have turned what used to be an industry built on service and relationships into a self-service, do-it-yourself endeavor.
While that may be the preferred method of doing business for many larger corporations, Motorlease has found that small to mid-sized fleets still prefer the service-oriented approach of the past. Those businesses aren't large enough, or don't have the expertise to manage their fleet on their own, and instead look for someone to take those burdens off of their shoulders. That is where we thrive. It's in focusing solely on serving that sector that Motorlease has been able to thrive and remain one of the premier providers in outsourced fleet management solutions.
How do you instill your family values in your employees?
One thing that our family truly values is the practice of treating everyone with respect. Motorlease instills that family value in employees by making sure that everyone in the company, no matter the position, has a voice and is heard.
We accomplish this task in several ways. The first is by ensuring that the entire management team has an open-door policy. We also hold regular meetings where employee input is actively sought out.
We also make it a point to recognize and reward employees for going above and beyond both for our clients, and for each other.
What is the one family value you want passed on to each generation in your business?
The one family value that I'd want passed on would be the idea of continuous improvement. In business, as in life, it's vitally important to always keep learning. Motorlease has been around for over 70 years. It would be easy to sit back and continue to do things in the manner in which we've always done them. However, if you do what you've always done, you'll continue to get the same results you've always gotten.
A company needs to continually strive to get better.
