Movers & Shakers: Toscano appointed partner at blumshapiro

Here are several recent staffing shakeups in Greater Hartford.

John Toscano was appointed partner at West Hartford-based accounting and consulting firm blumshapiro, where he will participate in the leadership of the firm's education practice.

Toscano has more than 28 years of experience, primarily focused on serving educational institutions of all types and providing specific expertise on endowment-related matters.

CREW CT, a Farmington-based organization dedicated to supporting and advancing the achievements of women in commercial real estate, has elected its 2020 Board of Directors.

Its board now consists of board President Melissa Ferrucci, a partner at CohnReznick LLP; Past President Lisa Lugauskas, an attorney at Fidelity National Title Group; President-Elect/CREW Network Delegate Kathleen Mylod, a partner at Shipman & Goodwin; Secretary Andrea L. Gomes, an attorney at Shipman Goodwin and Treasurer Edward Engberg, a partner at Whittlesey, PC.

Dr. Ryan Gorman has joined the Trinity Health Of New England Medical Group at Saint Francis Hospital as a primary care physician.

Gorman earned his degree from the University of New England, in Biddeford, Maine, and completed his residency at the Boston University family medicine program in Boston.

Kevin B. Spinella was hired to the government relations team of New Britain-based consulting and lobbying firm Gaffney, Bennett & Associates.

Spinella previously worked as senior policy analyst to former state House Speaker Brendan Sharkey and current Speaker Joe Aresimowicz.

Igor Bochenkov was named a partner at Glastonbury accounting firm Nicola Yester & Co. P.C. Borchenkov will continue focusing on tax services for privately held businesses.

Bochenkof joined Nicola Yester in 2019, and previously was a director in the tax department of a top 15 U.S. public accounting firm and worked as a tax manager for a specialty finance company.

Sami Asaad has joined the Hartford office of employment law firm FordHarrison LLP as partner and as chair of the firm’s home healthcare practice group. 

Asaad previously worked for McCarter & English.

Dr. Raina Sinha was hired as a pediatric cardiovascular surgeon at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford.

Sinha earned her bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and medical degree from Drexel University.

Ross Spiegel was elected chair of the Connecticut Green Building Council (CTGBC) board of directors for 2020.

Spiegel is a specifications coordinator for Glastonbury architectural firm the S/L/A/M Collaborative.
