M&T Bank announced Thursday that it has reopened a branch at 117 Washington Ave. in North Haven.
The Buffalo, New York-headquartered bank acquired the branch when it merged with People’s United Bank last year.
The Washington Avenue branch is situated by a large shopping center, and it is less than a mile from a branch inside a Stop & Shop supermarket which recently closed, according to M&T.
Bank staff who previously worked at the branch inside Stop & Shop have been transferred to this new location, which will have five full-time employees staffing it.
The new branch is full-service, providing both in-branch tellers and a drive-up ATM.
David Conner, M&T Bank’s regional manager, said the bank will provide all support, guidance and financial solutions customers need.
First Selectman Michael Freda said in an announcement he is pleased M&T has consolidated the two branches, calling it a “convenient location.”
To mark the branch reopening, M&T Bank donated $3,000 to the nonprofit Slate School, an independent school in North Haven serving students from kindergarten through grade 12.
