Westport-based Newman's Own Inc. has debuted a “pay what you want” pizza truck.

Customers may name their own price for a slice of pizza from the truck, which will travel across the United States this summer.

The truck will be in Connecticut on June 25, stopping at Newman’s Own headquarters from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and downtown Westport from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Newman’s, which offers a variety of food products from frozen pizza to salad dressing, donates its proceeds to help children facing adversity, through the Newman's Own Foundation.

The name-your-own price pizza truck kicked off in New York City on Thursday. It will make stops in cities including Boston, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Los Angeles and Chicago.

Among the pizza varieties offered are thin and crispy crust (uncured pepperoni, four cheese and supreme), stone-fired crust (margherita and roasted garlic and mushroom) and the new Newman's Own Sourdough Crust Pizza (meatball).

The truck will offer three to five different types of pizza at each stop.

Newman's Own was founded in 1982 by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, who raised his family in Westport and lived there until his death in 2008.
