NEO-NATAL UNIT REUNION MARKS 35 YEARS

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center celebrated 35 years of care at its recent reunion of patients and their families. The 28-bed NICU has provided care for more than 10,000 babies since its inception. A highlight of the day was the rededication of the unit as The Dr. Hema Da Silva Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit. Pictured is Dr. Da Silva, founder of the neo-natal unit, flanked by twin, Andrew and Adrian, who each weighed less than three pounds when they were born in January 2004. Their parents are the March of Dimes support group leaders for UConn.
