New downtown New Britain apartment building – ‘The Prohibition’ – expects full occupancy next month

Contributed Newington-based Exclusive Development is in the process of renovating this Arch Street property in New Britain into luxury apartments and a trendy bar.

A Newington developer said his newly redeveloped apartment building in New Britain is already half occupied and will be fully leased sometime next month.

Developer and general contractor Dan Czyewski of Newington-based Exclusive Development LLC, has redeveloped a former six-unit apartment building at 67-69 Arch St., in New Britain.

The 7,248-square-foot building was entirely gutted and has been renamed “The Prohibition.” A restaurant called “I Know, You Know” will debut next month on the building’s ground floor, featuring a tapas menu with gourmet bar food.

Czyewski said about half of the apartments in his nine-unit luxury residential building are occupied with full occupancy expected sometime in late April.

“This is just the look that New Britain needs; it’s perfect for downtown,” said Czyewski, who has worked on dozens of smaller-scale single-family projects in the city.

The building’s upper floors contain seven studios and one one-bedroom and one two-bedroom units.

The one-bedroom goes for $1,650 a month, while the two-bedroom presidential suite is going for $2,650 a month. The units start at 400 square feet and go up from there.

The multimillion-dollar project is being financed via private funding, Czyewski said.
