A New Haven clothing boutique with celebrity customers including rappers Soulja Boy and NBA star Iman Shumpert celebrated its first year in business Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting.
Mindless Thoughts Clothing owner LaDrea Moss, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, Alder Anna Festa and Deputy Economic Development Administrator Cathy Graves attended the event.
Mindless Thoughts, at 1296 State St. in the Cedar Hill neighborhood, started as an online store in 2012 and moved into the storefront in 2021. Moss supervised the renovation, housing the boutique in a former burned-out convenience store at the location. The grand opening was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Social media continues to play a role in the brand’s success, with its Instagram account counting 10,400 followers. Items for sale at Mindless Thoughts' online store include a logo t-shirt for $30 and a jacket with a design dubbed “Overthinking Kills” for $105.
“The line is all about encouraging people to think for themselves and embrace their own creativity,” the company said on its website. “The company strives to provide its consumers with a creative, up-to-date appealing fashion that anyone would feel proud to wear.”
