Quinnipiac University is partnering with Stony Creek Brewery for the creation of a new beer called “Bobcat Golden Lager” to boost student entrepreneurship.

A portion of each sale will go toward grants to help Quinnipiac students, or Bobcats, launch new business ventures.

The new beer, described as having a “light and crisp” flavor, will launch Friday, Oct. 6, to coincide with Bobcat Weekend. It will be available for purchase at several area bars, restaurants and package stores. The beer has a blue and gold label and an image of Boomer, Quinnipiac’s Bobcat mascot.

Executives at the Branford-based Stony Creek Brewery will act as mentors and advisors to the student entrepreneurs who benefit from the grant fund created by the partnership.

Campuswide, brewery leaders will participate in guest lectures, as discussion panel members, and in other entrepreneurship and business building opportunities, according to an announcement. The brewery also plans to use Quinnipiac students for internship and employment opportunities.

Mostafa Analoui, the Carlton Highsmith Endowed Chair of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Hamden-based Quinnipiac, will act as steward for the fund.
