A relatively new retail plaza on the Berlin Turnpike in Wethersfield could be nearing full occupancy as it negotiates a new lease with popular burger chain Five Guys.
According to the Wethersfield Economic Development & Improvement Commission, Five Guys has signed a letter of intent to occupy a 2,463-square-foot space at the Atlas Commons, an 8,094-square-foot retail plaza located at 1862 Berlin Turnpike.
The lease has not been finalized, but talks are ongoing, according to Joseph Sullo, head of Hartford-based Staypoint, which owns the property.
The site is the former home to a retail plaza that housed Atlas Tile. That plaza was demolished to make way for the new building, which was completed in 2023.
Atlas Commons is now home to a Starbucks (2,691 square feet) and Wingstop restaurant (1,607 square feet).
If the Five Guys lease is finalized, it would leave one more 1,405-square-foot space available in the plaza, Sullo said.
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story said Five Guys had signed a 2,463-square-foot lease at the Atlas Commons plaza. The story has been revised: Five Guys has signed a letter of intent to occupy the space, but still needs to finalize the lease.
