A Newtown woman who billed the state Medicaid program for services she never provided was hit with a $186,731 civil judgment this week, Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced.
Jeannie V. Pasacreta, a registered nurse in Newtown, is alleged to have billed the Connecticut Medicaid program for psychotherapy and medical services she never provided from 2016 to 2018 while working at Integrated Mental Health Services LLC. Per Tong’s office, Pasacreta created and submitted false claims to the program and collected “tens of thousands” of dollars for work she never did.
Tong’s investigation found that her several hundred fraudulent claims used billing codes that reimbursed her at the highest rates, for the longest sessions and most complex services. The civic judgment from Tong’s office came after Pasacreta pleaded guilty to the charges.
“This case involved fabrication of hundreds of false claims, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in payments for services never provided. This civil judgment follows a related guilty plea, both of which will result in significant restitution for the Connecticut Medicaid program,” Tong said in a statement announcing the ruling.
