Boats Incorporated, a Niantic boat dealership and marina, has been sold to an investor group headed by Scott Leahy.
Located on 2.3 acres at 133 Main St., the company sells Grady-White, Parker and Sportsman branded boats as well as Yamaha outboards. The facility also includes a 175-slip marina.
After 32 years of ownership, Brian Olson, Don MacKenzie and Peter Rothman hired a New Haven business broker, VR Mergers & Acquisitions, to help them find a buyer.
VR introduced them to Scott Leahy, who following a 20-year career on Wall Street was looking to combine his business experience with his love for boating and fishing as well as his affinity for the eastern Connecticut coastline.
“Don, Peter and I wanted to find a buyer with both a good business acumen and a passion for our industry which we believed was important to keep the firm running in a manner that our employees, customers and vendors had come to expect,” said Brian Olson. “Scott fit the bill on both counts, and in fact we believe he will bring the business to another level.”
New Haven-based VR Mergers & Acquisitions represents owners of businesses valued between $500,000 and $25 million or with annual revenues from $1 million to $30 million in the sale of their enterprises.
