North Haven packaging company acquires PA firm

North Haven-based Unicorr Packaging Group has acquired a Pennsylvania business that will help it expand its product offerings and regional footprint, the company said.

Unicorr Packaging Group, a custom corrugated products and protective packaging manufacturer, announced this week it’s acquired TriState Container Corp., which is based in the Philadelphia area and operates in the same market.

Unicorr operates six manufacturing facilities in four states in the Northeast, and now the company said it will expand into Pennsylvania following the acquisition. TriState operates three manufacturing facilities in Pennsylvania and the company’s existing brand names will remain.
    
The newly combined business will now provide “virtually all types of corrugated packaging,” Unicorr officials said.

Allen Friedman, president of TriState, will remain with the company as vice president of TriState Container. Another executive, Jim Perkins, will join TriState’s management team.

Unicorr like TriState is a multi-generation family-owned business. Hap Perkins runs the business alongside his three sons, Matt, Nick, and Jim. The TriState and ProCorr brands, which have long been established in the Philadelphia-area, will remain and the company will operate as a subsidiary of Unicorr.
