NY architecture, engineering firm opens office in Windsor

H2M, a New York-based architecture and engineering firm, has opened its first Connecticut office in Windsor.

According to company officials, the new H2M location, located in a suite at 360 Bloomfield Ave., opened for business on Monday.

The firm specializes in consulting and design services, and its new investment in Connecticut stems in part from the federal money the state could receive as part of a bipartisan infrastructure package being negotiated in the U.S. House and Senate.

“Demand for our services is growing in the region,” said Senior Vice President James J. Roberts. “As Connecticut and the rest of the United States awaits the final disposition of the hotly debated infrastructure recovery bill, it remains likely that significant funding, in the billions of dollars, will be made available to water and sewer systems across the state for projects to enhance drinking water quality, improve storm and wastewater management and expand systems to further protect our environment and waterways.”

Roberts pointed specifically to the replacement of lead service lines and closer monitoring of PFAS, a class of toxic and difficult-to-remove industrial chemicals, as two likely areas of focus for Connecticut if the infrastructure plan does in fact pass into law.

The state is also likely to see increased regulatory oversight concerning drinking water compliance due to heightened awareness of new contaminants, he noted.

H2M is headquartered in Melville, New York, on Long Island. It has six other offices in New York, including in Manhattan and Albany, and two locations in New Jersey.

According to its website, the firm employs over 480 architects, engineers, planners, designers, inspectors, surveyors and scientists.
