CityMD, a New York-based urgent care provider that serves New York and New Jersey, said Thursday it will open a new location in Norwalk, its first in Connecticut.
The facility at 506 Westport Ave. will open Sept. 30 and offer a variety of healthcare services, including pediatric care and occupational healthcare. It will be staffed with 10 employees, with at least one physician on site.
In addition to providing board-certified physicians to treat illnesses and injuries, the CityMD Norwalk Urgent Care center will also offer rapid testing for COVID-19, strep throat and more, while also offering EKG, X-ray and blood testing services, as well as immunizations, evaluations for school, camp and sports physical forms, and driver’s license vision testing.
The center will be open 365 days a year and accept most forms of insurance. A spokesperson said Aetna and Cigna insurance policies will be accepted when the facility opens, with Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield being accepted as of Nov. 1, and Emblem and UnitedHealth being accepted as of Nov. 11.
Patients can walk in or book a visit for a specific time. In addition, the Summit + CityMD app allows patients to connect with a doctor for virtual care 24 hours a day.
CityMD said it partners with Summit Health, a multispecialty physician group that also has a location in Norwalk at 542 Westport Ave.
